Iron-Age Hillfort

This contour hillfort has an hourglass shape enclosed by a single bank and ditch, with a counterscarp bank and an inturned entrance on the SE. Around 20 hut hollows can be traced inside the defences, and excavation of some of the storage pits revealed animal bones and pottery. On clear days, Ladle Hill can be seen to the E. Lord Caernarvon, of Tutankhamun fame, is buried in a fenced-off corner of the site.
