Iron-Age Hillfort

Univallate fort with bank, ditch and counterscarp, damaged by ploughing. Original entrance at S end, but no evidence for inturning of rampart. A spring-fed pond at the NE corner provided a water supply. The ditch averages 15m in width and is from 4m to 4.7m deep. Counterscarp survives on the W, NW and SE sides, and varies from 4m to 14m in width and from 0.5m to 1m in height. Only slight traces of inner bank remain, reaching a maximum of 1.5m height.
