Iron-Age Hillfort

First phase of occupation dates to 6th or 5th century BC, and comprised of an oval enclosure with a single chalk bank and ditch and an entrance on SE. Later, in 3rd or 2nd century BC, a smaller oval was built inside the first, with double chalk banks and a median v-shaped ditch, 6m deep. Occupation continued after the Roman invasion well into the 1st century AD. Two female skeletons were found on site.
