Iron-Age Hillfort

The defenses of this strong contour fort consist of a single rampart and ditch with a counterscarp bank which encircle the top of the hill around the 122m contour, enclosing an oak-leaf shaped area of around 8ha. There are four visible entrances at the cardinal points, but only the north and south ar original. Ranked among the finest contour forts in Britain, it is unexcavated but Iron Age and Roman finds have been recorded from the site.
