Iron-Age Hillfort

Positioned on an isolated hill overlooking the confluence of the Barle with the Whitewater, this ovoid fort is defended by a single stone rampart enclosing an area of just 3 acres (1.2 ha). There are two possible entrances to the fort: on the south-east where an upright stone may have been part of a gatehouse set within the rampart, and on the north-east where traces of an external bank can be seen, perhaps the remains of a gateway passage.
