Iron-Age Hillfort

A circular fort with a single rampart, even now up to 4m high and 12.8m wide, fronted by a V-shaped ditch, ove 10m wide and 4m deep. Entrances lay to W and E. A second ditch in the interior is clearly unfinished, and if contemporaneous with the other defences (dating to the 5th or 4th centuries BC), may have been to provide extra chalk for the rampart. A bronze-age sword was found here in 1704.
