Iron-Age Contour Hillfort

A triangular contour hillfort with defences comprising two dump-ramparts with median u-shaped ditch, enclosing an area of 3.2ha. There is a further external bank on the weaker western side, and entrances approached by hollow-ways lie on the north and west, with another simple entrance on the south-east to allow easy access to water. The fort is unexcavated, but is thought to have been built during at least two separate phases during the mid-late Iron Age, the second phase possibly sub-dividing the interior of the fort into multiple enclosures.
