Ruthwell Camp
Marching or Temporary Camp
This small camp was discovered by CUCAP in 1978 just north of Ruthwell village. The whole of the NE side is known, along with the rounded N and E corner-angles and attached lengths of the adjacent sides. The location of the SW side being unknown, its size may only be estimated. There are other camps on the coast of South Dumfriesshire at Annanfoot and Ward Law, to east and west respectively. Their locations make an early Flavian date likely.
